JUST HIRED!
Reflecting on my journey through the WIU program, I realize the invaluable lessons it imparted, particularly emphasizing the significance of patience and continuous growth. The pursuit of knowledge knows no bounds, and the WIU program instilled in me the ethos of perpetual advancement within the field.

I created a Google classroom in one of my courses at WIU that I attached to my resume when I was applying for positions. This helped me in my interview and ultimately get the job because they asked about how I would incorporate technology into the classroom. I needed this degree to get hired where I wanted to be.
— Emily Ryerson, Elementary Education 2024
I think the single most important thing I learned at WIU was networking and how to be personable with everyone I interact with. I think that is a skill commonly overlooked that is very important. The networking and leadership opportunities I gained from WIU were invaluable and I will forever be grateful. Both of my majors helped me in several different ways. LEJA helped me with learning the basics of government including valuable ethical skills I use every day. Sociology helped me key in on my writing and research skills along with understanding societal issues that I help constituents with every day. In the end, both of my programs helped develop me to easily be able to integrate into the professional workforce.
— Zander Doan, Law Enforcement and Justice Administration 2024
At WIU I learned a lot of valuable skills such as communication, time management and the ability to be accepting of all to reach a common goal. I was a part of the Delta Zeta Sorority which truly built my leadership skills for my future. My major is a direct position in healthcare and WIU gave me the ability to focus on areas I was most passionate about.

Jana Knupp's Success Strategies class and her Personal Development and Leadership in Agriculture class taught me a lot of tactics to use while interviewing and applying for jobs. These classes also taught me interview and phone etiquette and how to format a proper resume, cover letter, reference page and LinkedIn page.
