MSG Alsopskeel, Nicholas is a native of West Lafayette, Indiana. He enlisted in the Army in August of 2002. He attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, as an Armor Crewman (19K).
His military education includes the Master Leader Course, Battle Staff, Senior Leaders Course, Army Basic Instructor Course, SHARP Course, Tactical Information Operations Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, and the Basic Leaders Course.
1SG Alsopskeel’s previous assignments and duties include: 1SG A Co, 1-63 AR, Fort Riley, KS; Active Component to Reserve Component, HHT 4TH CAV BDE, Fort Knox, KY; Platoon Sergeant and TAC NCOIC HHT 2-11 ACR, Fort Irwin, California; Instructor/Writer ABOLC, A TRP, 2-16 CAV, Fort Moore, GA; Tank Gunner and Tank Commander, HHC 3-66 CAV, Grafenwoehr, Germany; Loader and Driver, 1-1 CAV, Budingen, Germany. Additionally, 1SG Alsopskeel has three combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom and one rotations to Germany.
1SG Alsopskeel’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2BOLC), Army Commendation Medal (1SOLC), Army Achievement Medal (3OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), Iraq Campaign Medal with four Campaign Stars, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (4th Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (5th Award), North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal, Presidential Unit Citation.
