Graduate Student - Non-Assistantship Employment Opportunities

The below positions are employment opportunities for graduate students but are not assistantship positions. They do not come with a tuition waiver nor follow the eligibility requirements of assistantships. These may be off campus positions.


House Director - Delta Zeta
Macomb, IL

Chapter Information:

Delta Zeta (Epsilon Omicron chapter) is one of five sororities at Western Illinois University. We were founded at WIU in 1946. We share a common purpose: to make life fuller, more meaningful, more rewarding. Within Delta Zeta, we call it enriching. Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • To check in residents each semester, issue keys, secure Security Deposit/Room Inventory Form within twenty-four (24) hours of check-in and secure personal data cards.
  • To act as the House host and enforce the rules and regulations of the Sorority, including but not limited to the no-alcohol policy, male visitors, pets, smoking, etc. These rules apply to the House Director as well as the members.
  • Work closely with and communicate regularly with the House Manager.
  • To review and record all invoices for purchases an employee has made and has been authorized to make, and to turn them over to the National Housing Corporation (NHC) for payment. Must be prepared to send the list to NHC upon request.
  • To reside in the the Sorority Chapter House (the "House") at all times that the chapter members are present. Time off may be requested through NHC up to one weekend per month. In addition, time off is given during break periods during the academic year (Thanksgiving, Winter Break, Spring Break)
  • To report any major physical or structural problems of the House immediately to NHC.
  • To check out residents, secure keys, visually inspect the resident's room and review the Security Deposit/Room Inventory Form as filled out at the time of check-in.

Qualifications:

  • Currently or planning to be enrolled in a graduate program at Western Illinois University - Macomb campus
  • Ability to live in the sorority house for the duration of your program
  • Strong multitasking skills
  • Interest working with undergraduate students
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with or interest in sorority and fraternity life
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to mediate disagreements

Compensation:

  • A stipend from NHC equating to $174.80 every 2 weeks while school is in session
  • Private Room and bathroom within the  Delta Zeta Chapter House - includes wifi and utilities

Hours Per Week:

Varies based on projects and time of year.
