Admission Requirements

Select your level of study:

New College Freshman: Students who have not taken college classes after completing high school apply for an undergraduate degree.

Transfer Students: Students who have taken college classes after high school but have not earned the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree apply for an undergraduate degree. Learn about earning undergraduate transfer credits.

Graduate Students: Students who have earned the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree apply for a graduate or second bachelor's degree.

Online-only Students: Accepted students who would like to register for online-only courses to complete from their home countries must first work with their WIU advisor to determine if appropriate online courses are available. Refer to FAQs for details.

For Fall (August)

  • April 1: Application due 
  • April 15: Application materials due (Transcripts, test scores, all other requested documents)
  • June 1: Financial documents due
  • July 15: Application due for students currently attending a U.S. institution and transferring to WIU
  • August 1: Financial documents due for students currently attending a U.S. institution and transferring to WIU

For Spring (January)

  • October 1: Application due 
  • October 15: Application materials  (Transcripts, test scores, all other requested documents) and financial documents due
  • November 17: Application fee and all application materials due for students currently attending a U.S. institution and transferring to WIU
  • December 8: Financial documents due for students currently attending a U.S. institution and transferring to WIU
