Graduate Assistantship Available for 2020-21 Academic Year
The School of Music at Western Illinois University is pleased to announce a graduate assistantship in violin available for the 2020-21 academic year. Applicants for the Master of Music degrees in Violin Performance and Music Education are eligible for assistantships with responsibilities in- performing as second violin in the Julstrom String Quartet
- performing in ensembles as needed
- administrative duties as assigned
Terms of Employment
- Two-semester(eight-month) contract, covering Fall and Spring Semesters of the academic year
- Renewable for asecond year of academic study
- 13 hours per week for a 2/3 assistantship
Assistantship Benefits
Assistantships include a full tuition waiver for all graduate credits (not including fees), a tuition waiver for summer courses, and a stipend of $5032 per academic year.- FULL tuition waiver for all graduate credits (not including fees)
- Tuition waiver for summer courses
- $5032 yearly stipend
- Total benefit to student: $10,743.58/year (In-state tuition); $16,419.16/year (Out-of-state or Internationaltuition)
Qualifications
- BM or BA degree in music
- Must be accepted as full-time, degree-seeking student in a WIU School of Music graduate program
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 semester hours of graduate study each semester
- Maintain a GPA of at least 3.00. First-semester graduate students must have an undergraduate GPA of at least 2:75
- Evidence of strong performance skills as determined by live or video audition with supporting materials
