1. What is the dress code?

We recommend business casual attire. Business casual is a dress code that is less formal than business wear, but still professional. Examples of traditional business casual attire include: blouses, dress shirts and pants, skirts, dresses, blazers, sweaters, relaxed slacks, etc. If you ordered a conference t-shirt, we encourage you to wear it the day of the conference. Use the order form to puchase yours now.

2.  I've missed the registration deadline, can I still attend? 

If you would like to attend Student Affairs 101, but have missed our registration deadline, contact csp@wiu.edu. Please note that lunch may not be available for those who miss the deadline.

3. Can I register a group? 

You may register your group all at once through our registration form. Please have the following information ready for all group members: first and last name, preferred pronouns, email addresses, institution, phone number, current role, lunch choice (options on form), and any accommodations. Your payment amount must match the number of people you have registered ($25 x # attendees).

4. What is the theme of this year's conference? 

This year's theme is "Bloom in the Field of Student Affairs," highlighting the diverse opportunities within the profession. We will provide prospective students with insights into the field and information about graduate programs. For current students, our goal is to inspire future success after graduation. Additionally, for professionals, we'll discuss trending topics and current events in student affairs.

5. Who can attend the conference? 

The conference is open to anybody passionate about the field of student affairs, including current student affairs professionals, graduate students, undergraduate students, and community college students. 

6. What is included in the registration fee? 

The registration fee includes breakfast, lunch, refreshments and dessert, access to all sessions, the keynote presentation, conference materials, and social events. 

7. Can I get a refund if I cannot attend? 

Refunds are not available. If you would like to transfer your registration to another party, please email csp@wiu.edu.

8. How do I choose which sessions to attend? 

Our website and program booklet will offer program descriptions to help you decide which sessions align with your interests and professional needs. Plus, the sessions will be categorized by two main focuses: prospective students and professional development. 

9. How do I get to WIU? Where do I stay?

Directions to the venue and transportation options (public transportation, parking information, maps) can be found on the accommodations/maps page. Accommodation information for an overnight stay in Macomb is listed on this page, as well. 

10. Do I have to pay for parking? 

Parking is available at the venue. You must park in one of the following lots: WIU Lot 17 (Faculty & Staff), WIU Lot 16 (Faculty & Staff), WIU Lot 16M (metered lot), or WIU Union Q Lot. You may be ticketed in any other lots.

11. Where can I pick up my conference badge and materials? 

Badges and materials can be picked up at registration tables located outside the Grand Ballroom in the University Union beginning at 8:30 a.m.

12. Is there wifi available?

Yes, free Wi-Fi is available throughout the conference venue. The network name and password will be provided upon check in.

13. Will there be food?

Yes, food is included in the registration fee. Breakfast, lunch, refreshments and dessert will be provided. Please review the lunch menu and choose your meal before you register.

14. What networking opportunities are available?

Networking opportunities include the welcome reception, lunch breaks, Graduate Panel, Graduate School Fair, and Student Affairs Social.

15. Is the conference venue fully accessible for those with disabilities? 

Yes, the venue is fully accessible. If you require further accommodation, please contact us at csp@wiu.edu.

16. Can I bring a companion or family member with me? 

Yes. If they will attend the conference, please register them accordingly.

17. What Covid-19 measures are in place? 

There are no COVID-19 mandates in place at this time. However, masks are optional and handwashing is always recommended. 

18. What do I do in case of emergency? 

For first aid needs, contact the nearest staff member or go to the registration desk. Call 911 in case of emergency.
