Orientation: Your orientation addresses academic, geographic, social, professional, and personal transitions associated with enrolling in the CSP program. 

Welcome Events: Join the first and second year cohorts for potluck dinners, kickball and s’mores, mini-golf, board games, and much more as you learn about the space, place, and faces of Macomb, WIU, and the CSP communities from mid-August to mid-September.

Interview Preparation Workshops: The CSP team provides assistance and coordinates processes as you prepare to interview for each new hands-on experience (assistantship, practicum, summer internship, full-time job search) including securing potential sites, coordinating resume review, inviting guest speakers to talk about the process, organizing mock interviews, collecting job search data from previous graduating classes, distributing process and timeline information, and organizing panel discussions.

Alumni Hour : Monthly discussions with alumni who share their professional experiences in a small-group format with current students on topics such as work-life harmony, transitioning into the first professional position, navigating institutional politics, resiliency in the field, and balancing personal beliefs and professional position.

Academic and Career Advising: The CSP faculty and staff regularly meet with current students to discuss course materials, intellectual curiosities, research agendas, mid-year performance evaluations, transition into graduate school and professional positions, and much more.

Student Handbook: This document provides insights, tips, and timelines for topics such as independent study, elective credits, faculty expectations, technology in the classroom, graduation requirements, evaluation methods, scholarships, support provided by the CSP program, and resources for academic success.
