About Julie
Dr. Brines joined the CSP faculty in the fall of 2021. She is an experienced practitioner and educator, having served as an academic advisor for 13 years and as an adjunct professor before accepting her tenure track position. Her teaching at Western spans a decade; she taught undergraduate students in the Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Administration and undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration before teaching in the College Student Personnel program full time.
Julie is the vice president of the University Professionals of Illinois (UPI) WIU chapter and has extensive experience in working collaboratively with university administration and functional areas on campus. She also chairs the College of Education and Human Services Faculty Advisory Council, advises the Epsilon Psi Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma, and assists with Title IX and University Conduct Board hearings. Julie is a member of ACPA-College Student Educators International and NASPA - Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. She currently serves as one of two faculty-in-residence elect for ACPA's Commission for Global Dimensions of Student Development.
