Building and Sustaining a Community of Leaders

CSP Alumni

We ♥ Our Students and Alumni

Our students and alumni are at the heart of everything we do. The relationships you build with your cohort, supervisors, faculty, and colleagues are a vital part of your success.

If you are a current student:

  • Join WISPA, our student organization that focuses on enhancing the personal and professional development of all students interested in student affairs and leadership.
  • Apply for departmental scholarships awarded in the spring semester.
  • Review the professional development page for upcoming conferences, workshops, and webinars.
  • Start planning your internship search for the summer between your first and second year.
  • Begin reviewing all the resources for your job search in student affairs as you move through your second year in the program.

If you are an alum:

  • Participate in our alumni hours where you share your knowledge and insights on a variety of topics with current graduate students in a 45-60 minute program that can be in person or on Zoom.
  • We love it when you refer students to the CSP program and give for scholarships and student support!
  • Advance your career after time in the field or seek a new opportunity by visiting our job search resource hub intended to assist you in your career journey.
  • Fill out our alumni update form so we can continue to inform you about all the great things happening at Western and with the program.
  • Continue lifelong learning with professional development opportunities curated by the CSP Team and your fellow alumni.
  • Learn about our external assistantship program for part-time employees (up to 20 hours per week) who work for you while pursuing an online master’s degree in CSP from Western Illinois University. Just think, you can hire someone who wants a master's degree and have them attend classes at your alma mater virtually, enabling them to benefit from the same degree you earned. And they can do it from anywhere in the United States.

Don't forget about Student Affairs 101, a one-day conference hosted by student affairs programs across Illinois, including Western Illinois University, Illinois State University, Eastern Illinois University, Northern Illinois University, and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. This year it will be held at Western on Oct. 18, 2024.
