Spring 2014 Case Writer: Christopher Hennessy

Author Christopher Hennessy has been named the Spring 2014 Fred Ewing Case and Lola Austin Case Writer-in-Residence at Western Illinois University.

Hennessy will be on campus Wednesday, March 5 and Thursday, March 6 for a variety of presentations and readings.

An hour-long interview and question and answer session with Hennessy will begin at 4:30 p.m. in Simpkins Hall, room 25. Hennessy will then read from his work, beginning at 7 p.m. March 6 on the second floor of the University Art Gallery.

Hennessy is the author of "Love-In-Idleness," which was a finalist for the Thom Gunn Award. His other works include, "Our Deep Gossip: Conversations with Gay Writers on Poetry and Desire" and "Outside the Lines: Talking with Contemporary Gay Poets."

After earning a master of fine arts degree (MFA) from Emerson College, Hennessy moved on to become a Ph.D. candidate in English literature at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, where he was a teaching fellow. He currently teaches at Emerson College.

All of the Writer-in-Residence programs are open free to the public and are sponsored by the WIU Department of English and Journalism and the College of Arts and Sciences.

The Fred Ewing Case and Lola Austin Case Writer-in-Residence supports bringing national writers of poetry and fiction to Western each year. The writers teach workshops and seminars for creative writing students and conduct readings of their work.
