Services
Health Education offers many services including DIY boxes, one-on-one consultations, and condom distribution.
DIY Boxes
The DIY boxes are a "take home" facilitator boxes that allow RAs, Greek Life, or anyone else that wants to spread awareness of health and wellness the opportunity to educate others. Each box comes with:
Facilitator sheets with step-by-step instructions of the event
Worksheets for participants to fill out
Pre and Post tests

DIY Boxes topics offered:
Alcohol and STIs
This program gives participants a better understanding of how STIs affect 15-24 year old, a basic knowledge of alcohol and its effects on the body, and understand how alcohol impacts the transmission of STIs.
Nutrition
This program provides resources for healthy nutrition including an introduction to My Plate, provides nutrition tips relevant to various settings for college students, and to educate students on nutrition factoids and information on portion sizes.
Stress
This program aims to help participants think critically about the root causes of stress, work to reduce those causes that are within their control and learn methods for reducing feelings of stress.
Body Image
This program aims to help participants open up to an honest discussion about body image, gauge their own body image and self-esteem, consider ways to improve body image and self-esteem.
Sleep
This program gives participants a better understanding of the sleep process including the stages of sleep, a basic knowledge of what affects sleep and become aware of basic relaxation techniques that can be used to help induce sleep.

One on one consultations
Students can call the Student Development and Success Center at 309-298-1884 to make a free one-on-one appointment for:
Tobacco Cessation
Create a plan to help you quit tobacco
Eating and Exercise
Develop a personal healthy eating and exercise plan
Stress Management
Discover techniques to prevent and manage stress
Consultations on other health topics are welcome and encouraged. Our staff is available to assist you.
Condoms
Health education is responsible for the University's condom distribution.
Condoms are available at no charge at Beu Health Center, Casa Latina, Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center, LGBT*QA Resource Center, Student Development and Success Center, University Counseling Center, and the Women's Center.
