Multicultural Center

An assistantship in the Multicultural Center (MCC) provides graduate students with a transformative opportunity to engage with diverse student populations and promote inclusivity on campus. This role involves supporting the center’s initiatives that celebrate cultural diversity, enhance awareness of social justice issues, and foster a sense of belonging among students.

  • Graduate assistants will collaborate with faculty, staff, and student organizations to plan events, facilitate workshops, and implement outreach programs.
  • This hands-on experience not only equips students with essential skills in intercultural communication and program development but also prepares them for impactful careers in higher education and student affairs.

MCC Assistantship Numbers

Assistantship Site Overview: The Multicultural Center includes four cultural/identity-based centers: Casa Latina Cultural Center, Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center, LGBT*QA Resource Center, and Women’s Center. These Centers provide a “Home Away From Home” for students and complement Western's mission of empowering students, faculty, and staff to lead dynamic and diverse communities. A shared motto amongst the four Centers within the MCC is that we are each inclusively inviting and intentionally recognizing.

The Multicultural Center aims to advance the goals of educational, social, and cultural awareness by providing resources to enhance the campus community’s understanding and appreciation of all identities. The MCC promotes intercultural learning, advocacy for historically marginalized students, and celebrates diversity to foster a welcoming and culturally inclusive environment.
