Agriculture Internship Special Project Plan
Appendix E-1
The purpose of the special project is to provide an opportunity for the intern to study a particular component or segment of the cooperating agricultural business or agency. The intern is responsible for developing the special project in cooperation with the cooperating agricultural business or agency.
For example, the in-depth special project could:
- Explain the overall operation of the agricultural business.
- Study the methods and techniques used to perform a specific operation in the business.
- Compare livestock feeding rations and analyze the results by comparing weight gained, health problems, etc.
- Develop a detailed outline of crop pest problems and recommended means of control.
- Develop a marketing plan for an agribusiness.
- Conduct a study/research project of interest to the employer.
The special project could use the major steps in the scientific method of problem-solving. The method includes the following steps:
- Identifying the problem.
- Developing a hypothesis and objectives.
- Collecting data.
- Interpreting data.
- Develop conclusions.
- Application of the conclusions.
Use the above sample information to assist in completing Appendix E-2.
