Updates on unexpected interruptions or outages will be posted below. Note that STARS and WIUP are offline for maintenance every night from midnight to 3:00 a.m, and some Sundays between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Other systems may be offline between 9:00 p.m. Friday and 6:00 a.m. Saturday for scheduled server maintenance. Routine maintenance outside of these windows are posted to our Facebook and Twitter feeds.

McDonough Telephone has notified us that phone service to/from campus phone systems has been restored. If you notice any lingering issues that you believe may be related, please contact the uTech Support Center at support@wiu.edu.

Disruption Update - Issue with phones calls to campus (1:31pm)

McDonough Telephone has notified us that there was a fiber cut in the Peoria area that is affecting our service. We do not yet have an estimated time for repair, but will provide an update when we do.

We are aware that some cell phone carriers are having issues placing/receiving calls from campus phone systems. We are aware and technicians are investigating.

The problem establishing connections to Network drives (specifically SAMBA Shares) has been resolved.

Disruption Resolution - Issue affecting outgoing phone calls to Verizon numbers resolved (6:11pm)

Campus phones should now be able to place outgoing calls to Verizon numbers. Thank you for your patience today.

  • Impact: Users of campus telephones should now be able to successfully place outgoing phone calls to Verizon phone numbers.

McDonough Telephone has informed us that there are issues with campus phones making outgoing calls to Verizon numbers. Frontier and MDTC are working on the problem, but there's no estimated time for resolution yet.

Disruption Resolution - Western Online enrollment issue resolved (10:45am)

The issue impacting course enrollments in Western Online has been resolved. Students and faculty should now have access to all of their course information as expected. If any lingering issues are noticed, please send details to support@wiu.edu. Thank you for your patience this morning.
