What is Office 365?
Every college student uses word processor, spreadsheet and presentation software. Those indispensable parts of any student’s toolkit for success just became a little easier to acquire. As part of WIU’s contract with Microsoft, we can now offer all current students (and employees) access to Office 365 at no cost.
Office 365 is a full suite of productivity tools that includes: cloud services, mobile apps and desktop applications.
Get Office 365
To access Office 365, students can immediately visit https://portal.microsoftonline.com/ and login with their WIU email address and your ECom password. (Employees must submit a request to be granted access.)

Can faculty and staff use Office 365?
Current WIU employees must submit a request to gain access to Office 365. Employees also have access to discounted Microsoft Office software through the Microsoft Home Use Program.
How many computers can I install Office on?
This program allows each person to install on up to five PCs or Macs and five tablets. You can also access Office mobile applications on Windows, iPhone and Android phones.
How long can I use Office 365?
Until you leave WIU. Your Office 365 subscription through WIU ends upon graduation, transitioning away from WIU to another school, or leaving full-time employment of the University.
You should make sure to transfer all your files from your school OneDrive to your personal OneDrive prior to leaving WIU.

Desktop Applications
The latest version of Office products can be downloaded and installed on your Windows or Mac OSX computers.

Mobile Apps
Office 365 also comes with some great mobile apps whether you prefer Windows, iOS or Android. Mobile device compatibility may vary among phone and tablet manufacturers. Simply search your app store to find out what apps are available for your device.
Once the apps are installed, logging in with your Office 365 account activates the full features of the apps.
Cloud Services
With Office 365 you can use web-based tools to create, modify, view, share and store documents, spreadsheets and presentations online from anywhere. In addition to these, you can also store files of any type in the 25 GB of storage space provided. Collaborating with a project group is now easier because the online content can easily be synched to personal devices and is more compatible with the full Microsoft Office suite.
