Legislative Branch

The Legislative Branch, or Senate, consists of constituency elected Senators, a Speaker of the Senate, and a Speaker pro tempore. 

The Senate represents various constituencies and seeks to enact legislation pertaining to the betterment of not only their respective constituencies, but also Western Illinois University as a whole.

Kaitlyn Crisantos, Speaker of the Senate

Kaitlyn Crisantos is from Norridge, IL and is a junior with a Forensic Psychology major and Criminalistics and Business minor. Along with serving as the Speaker of the Senate for our Student Government Association (SGA), Kaitlyn is the current historian of Alpha Psi Lambda National Inc., Treasurer for The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), involved in Psi Chi Honor Society, and in the Centennial Honors College here at WIU. She was also the President of the social justice organization, AMPLIFY.

With her involvement, Kaitlyn looks to ensure that students are made to feel heard, recognized, and included regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, and religion in order to ensure a productive and enjoyable college experience. She hopes to work with departments and students through SGA to create learning opportunities and offer helpful resources that will make life on campus all the more meaningful.
