Katz: December EOM
December 9, 2011
MACOMB, IL -- Ashley Katz, facilities manager for the University Union at Western Illinois University, has been named the WIU December Civil Service Employee of the Month.
According to her nominator, as facilities manager, Katz creates new services and programs "with a smile on her face. She goes above and beyond her duties.
"Ashley makes sure the Union is open and staffed, which can sometimes be difficult as she must keep in mind schedules, policies and budget. She has come in early and on weekends to make sure there is someone in the building," her nominator added. "She contributes to the Union's and the University's image everyday as her office works with students, faculty, staff and the public and Ashley ensures everyone is treated well. She makes sure every bride's wedding is a dream come true and every student program is how the students envisioned it. She is friendly, funny and everyone enjoys working with and for her."
Katz began working at WIU in July 2009 as a space administrator I at the University Union. She was promoted to her current position in March 2011.
"Ashley is a true asset to the WIU community. In her role, she projects a positive image for the University and ensures that her customers are satisfied," said Wendi Mattson, Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) public relations representative. "We congratulate Ashley on this well-deserved honor."
Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this recognition should contact Mattson at WK-Mattson@wiu.edu.
