MACOMB, IL -- Chris Brown, administrative aide at the Western Illinois University-Quad Cities campus, has been named the WIU June Civil Service Employee of the Month.

According to her nominators, "Chris always does what it takes to get the job done, with great enthusiasm, which is contagious and one that students, faculty, staff and guests of the University always comment upon. She leads by example, bringing a 'can do' attitude to the task at hand, and is always there to help others.

"Chris' efforts were clearly instrumental in the University receiving the highest recognition possible: 10 years of accreditation reaffirmation. She is also the connection between the Quad Cities and Macomb campuses. She understands how to work effectively with multiple people in multiple departments, whether it is across the hall or 90 miles away," her nominators added. "All of her accomplishments are even more notable because she is also a student, and effectively balances her work and education. She participates in WIU events and activities after hours, showing her true support for WIU at University and community functions."

Brown was hired in June 2007 as a staff secretary/office manager, and was named to her current position in August 2009.

"Chris is an outstanding representative of the quality staff employed by Western Illinois University," said Wendi Mattson, Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) public relations representative. "We congratulate Chris for receiving this well-deserved honor and we commend her for her commitment and loyalty."

Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this recognition should contact Mattson at WK-Mattson@wiu.edu.
