Symposium on Writing the Visual March 5 in WIU Art Gallery

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University's English Graduate Organization (EGO) will host the "Critical and Creative Ekphrasis: A Symposium on Writing the Visual," beginning at 3 p.m. Friday, March 5 in the WIU Art Gallery.

English students and faculty, as well as art department artists and interested public, will have the opportunity to create poetry inspired by the current exhibit, "Exploring Media: Glitter."

English faculty members will give brief talks: David Banash on "Ekphrastic Desire: Why Writers Make Us See"; Charles McLeod on "Trees Hit by Cars: How Writing Meets Art"; and Erika Wurth will lead an "Exquisite Corpse," where participants add to a collection of words in sequence.
