WIU School of Music Presents Wind Ensemble President's Concert

MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois University School of Music will present a preview performance of the Wind Ensemble's 59th Annual President's Concert at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 26 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall.

This performance, dedicated to Dean William "Billy" Clow, will include the repertoire that the WIU Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Mike Fansler, will perform during its debut at Carnegie Hall on Friday, May 23. The special performance in May will also include Stravinsky's Concerto for Piano and Winds, featuring WIU faculty pianist Dr. Po-Chuan Chiang.

This landmark event in New York City, presented in collaboration with the WIU Alumni Association, will serve as the 59th Annual President's Concert and will welcome many distinguished guests, including WIU President Kristi Mindrup, Macomb Mayor Mike Inman and numerous WIU alumni and supporters.

The program will include:
Emblems (1964) - Aaron Copland (1900-1990)

Symphony No. 1 "Jeremiah" (1942) - Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990)/arr.
Frank Bencriscutto (1928-1997)
II. Profanation
Dr. Matt Thomas, guest conductor

Colonial Song (1911) - Percy Aldridge Grainger (1882-1961)

Pines of Rome (1924) - Ottorino Respighi (1879-1936)/arr. Guy Duker (1916-
1998)
I. The Pines of the Villa Borghese
II. The Pines Near a Catacomb
III. The Pines of the Janiculum
IV. The Pines of the Appian Way
