WIU Math Club to Host Presentation

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Math Club invites students to join a presentation featuring Dinesh Ekanayake at 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 28, in Morgan Hall 224.

From the Department of Mathematics and Philosophy, the WIU Math Club will be hosting a presentation welcoming Dinesh Ekanayake, professor and graduate coordinator of the Mathematics and Philosophy department.

Ekanayake will present "Mathematics Research in Multidisciplinary Fields," where he will discuss how mathematics is vital in modern multidisciplinary fields that drive scientific and technological progress, including data science, computational science, atmospheric science, energy systems engineering and computational biology. This presentation will also include research to highlight the significance and impact of mathematics and discuss the need for mathematics education that integrates research and applications across all science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.

The WIU Math Club welcomes anyone interested in participating. There will be free pizza for attendees.
