Western Illinois University will host three free mental health first aid training opportunities in Macomb in February, March and April.

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University will host three free mental health first aid training opportunities in Macomb in February, March and April.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. The training is designed for employers, police officers, hospital staff, first responders and other caring individuals.

The training sessions will be held:


  • Thursday and Friday, Feb. 20-21, 8 a.m. - 1pm, location TBD

  • Wednesday, March 12, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., location TBD

  • Wednesday and Thursday, April 9-10, 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. McDonough County Health Department


*Individuals must attend both sessions for the two-day training(s) to receive credit.

The free training is open to students, faculty, staff and community members. Registration is required before attending the training session. Locations for the February and March dates will be determined once enrollment numbers are known.
