MACOMB, IL—Western Illinois University alumnus Robert Kett reflects fondly on his time as a Leatherneck, describing WIU as "a wonderful university with dedicated faculty and staff." The university's supportive environment and strong sense of community left an indelible mark on Kett's personal and professional journey.
Kett said being a Leatherneck means he can call himself part of a family.
"Being among those who are fortunate to be guided by steady hands towards success. Being among those lucky enough to call a place like Macomb home for a little while. And getting lost in Horrabin Hall at least once."
One of Kett's most cherished memories at WIU is seeing Colonel Rock III proudly standing on the football field—a moment that symbolizes the university's spirit and tradition.
After graduating from WIU with an enhanced knowledge in history, Kett embarked on a successful career as an archivist with the National Archives and Records Administration. He credits the dedicated faculty and rigorous academic environment at WIU for preparing him to excel in his profession.
Kett's advice to anyone considering WIU is enthusiastic and straightforward.
"Go for it! Macomb is a lovely community and the faculty at Western Illinois is top-notch!"
