WIU Computer Science Department Hosts Capture the Flag Cybersecurity Competition

MACOMB, IL — The Western Illinois University Computer Science Department is excited to announce its upcoming Capture the Flag cybersecurity competition, offering a unique and engaging platform for WIU students to test and showcase their cybersecurity skills. Open to both graduate and undergraduate students, the competition will take place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, in Stipes Hall, Room 309.

The event, organized by the WIU Cybersecurity Center, challenges participants to use advanced forensic tools in a real-world scenario by analyzing a provided disk image. Competitors will work hands-on to retrieve and analyze critical data, applying their knowledge in a dynamic environment that simulates real cybersecurity investigations.

This event provides a fantastic opportunity for students to gain practical experience in cybersecurity. The skills they develop here will prepare them to address current and emerging threats in the field.
