MACOMB, IL - - Being a part of the campus community at Western Illinois University made for a second home to Lacey Hufford-Pribble.

Hufford-Pribble, a 2007 alum of WIU's Social Work program, said her experience on the Macomb made fellow students feel more like family than acquaintances.

"Everywhere I went I ran into someone I knew," Hufford-Pribble said. "I loved the atmosphere at WIU and living in the dorms helped me form many relationships. I loved the size of the campus at WIU and the fact that there was always something to do."

During her time at WIU, Hufford-Pribble was involved in the Social Work Student Association, WAVE, Corbin Hall Government and Key Club. Being surrounded by motivated students taught Hufford-Pribble that Leathernecks never give up, even during the toughest of times.

"School work has never been easy for me but being a Leatherneck means I persevered and pushed through," Hufford-Pribble said. "I was the first grandchild in my family to graduate with a bachelor's degree."

Hufford-Pribble said students looking for a great college experience should consider WIU due to its academic support and campus life.

"I would tell them that WIU is amazing," Hufford-Pribble said. "It's the perfect size campus, professors go above and beyond to help their students and it's a great opportunity to meet new people!"

As we honor 125 years of educational excellence, we invite local WIU students to share their stories and be featured in our series. Contact University Communications at U-Communications@wiu.edu to participate.
