MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Multicultural Center, in collaboration with the University Counseling Center and the Office of Student Engagement, will host "State of Mind: Empowering Conversations for a Healthier Tomorrow" featuring guest speaker Kaleb Joseph at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, in the University Grand Ballroom.

This event, supported by the Mental Health Early Action on Campus (MHEAC) funds, aims to foster an open dialogue about mental health, wellness and the importance of mental health prevention. Kaleb Joseph will offer empowering insights to help students, faculty and staff prioritize their mental well-being. The event is part of the University's ongoing commitment to student wellness and prevention of mental health concerns.

All members of the WIU community are encouraged to attend. Students who participate will earn 100 Rocky's Wellness Challenge points for their attendance.

Joseph is a young man who is no stranger to adversity. He was raised in a dynamic household, one of 11 siblings and the only child between both parents. With this dysfunction this created, Kaleb turned to basketball as an escape, seeking approval and stability. His hard work paid off when he received his first Division I scholarship offer as an eighth grader. He later committed to play at Syracuse University. Later in his life, he overcame addiction despite having a degree and living a healthy lifestyle. Knowing all too well, he was not alone in his struggles, he now travels across the country sharing his story. He passionately helps teams and individuals develop the necessary skills and tools to identify, process and manage emotions.
