Future Teachers Day Set For Oct. 25

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University invites high school students interested in becoming an excellent K-12 teacher to attend Future Teachers' Day from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, in the University Union, Heritage Room.

This event offers students a unique opportunity to explore the teaching profession and gain insights into preparing for a career as a teacher. Attendees will participate in interactive sessions designed for future educators, meet current students, faculty and advisors and tour the WIU Macomb campus.

  • Free lunch in a residence hall

  • Mock classes

  • Admission & scholarship information

  • Breakout sessions for individual education programs:

  • Elementary Education (Early Childhood, ESL, Multilingual)

  • Middle-Level Education (Grades 5-8: Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, General Science)

  • Secondary Education (Grades 9-12: Agriculture, Social Studies/History, Mathematics, Science, English)

  • PK-12 Education (Art, French, Spanish, Physical Education, Music, Special Education)


High school students passionate about becoming educators can register for the event as individual visitors or as part of a club or school group by Friday, Oct. 17.
