WIU School of Communication and Media to Host 35th Annual Thompson Professor Lecture

MACOMB, IL - - The School of Communication and Media at Western Illinois University is pleased to announce the 35th Annual Thompson Professor Lecture, featuring Josh Averbeck. Professor Averbeck will present his latest research on the question: "Are students addicted to TikTok?"

The lecture will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, in the Multipurpose Room of the Multicultural Center. The event is open free to the public. Those who cannot attend in person can join virtually via Zoom at: https://wiu.zoom.us/j/99742629028.

This lecture series has become a signature event for the School of Communication and Media, engaging students, faculty and the broader community in conversations about the role of media in society. Professor Averbeck's research will delve into the potential effects of TikTok on students' behavior and its impact on daily life.
