University Libraries Celebrate WIU’s 125th; Reception Oct. 18

MACOMB, IL - - University Libraries at Western Illinois University is celebrating WIU's 125th birthday by looking to the past.

In recognition of the University's 125th birthday, University Libraries has developed a trio of special exhibits highlighting the history of WIU. The community is invited to a public reception at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at the Leslie F. Malpass Library.

Visitors will be able to view an exhibit with archival photos and artifacts celebrating the University's 125th anniversary, one celebrating the career of Dr. John Hallwas, Professor Emeritus of English and one celebrating the legacy of Col. Ray "Rock" Hanson.

All three exhibits will be available for viewing on the third floor of Malpass Library. The exhibits will remain through the rest of the 2024-25 school year.

To help with planning purposes, RSVPs for the reception are welcome at wiu-rsvp-g@wiu.edu. RSVPs are appreciated by Monday, Oct. 14.
