Join WIU for Informational Meetings on "Cannabis & Culture in Amsterdam" Study Abroad Course

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University students are invited to attend an informational meeting about the short-term study abroad course, Cannabis & Culture in Amsterdam, led by Professor of Sociology and Anthropology Heather McIlvaine-Newsad. The course, which will take place during Spring Break in March 2025, offers students the opportunity to explore Amsterdam while earning three academic credit hours.

Informational meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 2, and Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Morgan Hall, room 320. The course is open to undergraduate and graduate students.

Amsterdam, the capital and principal commercial center of the Netherlands is known for its historical attractions, world-class art collections and unique cultural heritage. As the first city in the world to legalize cannabis consumption, it provides a distinctive setting to explore the intersections of culture, policy and history.

This course highlights the variety of study abroad programs available at WIU, offering students valuable global perspectives while earning academic credit.
