Just Hired: Drake Fraser

Just Hired! Through the experiences of local, regional, national and international students, Western Illinois University has some incredible alumni who are changing the world in the workforce. This series will feature students from all over the world who are hired post-graduation.

MACOMB, IL - - Meet Drake Fraser, a Spring 2024 graduate in Agriculture Business, who recently accepted a position with Prairieland FS at the Payson facility as an Agronomy Associate.

"I attended the career fair for Ag majors in the fall of 2022 and met up with the Prairieland FS recruitment team which landed me an internship with them in Rushville for the summer of 2023," Fraser said. "Then when it came time to start applying for jobs post-graduation, I saw there was a position with Prairieland in Payson as an agronomy associate and applied for that and reached out to the recruitment team that had gotten me the internship in Rushville and they helped push my application along. I then got an interview and shortly after I got offered the position."

Fraser feels his experience at WIU allowed him to develop many valuable skills.

"The agricultural staff was tremendous in preparing me for my career, whether it be the interview process or the agronomy side, I feel as though the staff at WIU really set me up for success post-graduation," Fraser said.

Fraser credits WIU for receiving this job and plans to stay in touch with WIU through sporting events and the Ag Department.

"In the future, I want to make sure that Prairieland FS attends the career fair each year to help students get great opportunities for their future," Fraser said.
