MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University and Joliet Junior College (JJC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to offer a Guaranteed Admission Program (GAP). The program provides a clear pathway for JJC students to transfer to WIU, meeting all current admissions requirements at the time of application.

The agreement ensures that JJC students with an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree will be admitted to WIU, with University General Education requirements completed. Additional credits will apply to major requirements or count as electives.

The GAP program does not guarantee admission to specific degree programs or majors. Admission to certain WIU programs may require additional criteria and some programs may have limited space. Students who meet University requirements but not program-specific requirements may be admitted as undeclared or with a pre-designation.

GAP Program Requirements:

  • Achieve a 2.0 cumulative GPA and 24 earned credit hours from all institutions attended, in good academic standing from the last school attended.

  • Complete the WIU GAP Participation Agreement.

  • Apply for admission to WIU at wiu.edu/apply.

  • "Partnering with Joliet Junior College allows WIU to participate in events targeted at their partner schools. JJC holds these events and advertises them to their students. We appreciate all of our community college partners. JJC has been great to work with and we appreciate the students who decide to continue their major at WIU. We make this process seamless with our transfer-friendly policy that accepts any AA or AS degree that meets our University's General Education requirements. We also provide transfer plans for students to guide them on other courses to take in their associate's degree program," WIU Admissions Recruitment and Outreach Associate Director Kassie Daly said.
