Editor's Note: This is the next in a series of stories about Western Illinois University students, alumni and community members, highlighting their experiences during our 125th anniversary celebration. We will feature 125 individuals from August 2024 to August 2025.

MACOMB, IL – Luke Leezer, an Environmental Biology major with a minor in Zoology, wanted to carry on the tradition of attending WIU many generations before.

"My entire family attended WIU," Leezer said.

Leezer enjoyed Greek life and served as president of his fraternity for a term.

"I have enjoyed my time at WIU, and have had a lot of fun," Leezer said.

When asked how WIU has prepared him for his future career he answered with prosperity.

"The classes I have been taking have provided different avenues for job opportunities," Leezer said.

Leezer encourages all students to get involved on campus through multiple different avenues.

"Spend time with your peers, join Greek life and don't forget to make memories and focus on your grades," Leezer said.

As we honor 125 years of educational excellence, we invite local WIU students to share their stories and be featured in our series. Contact University Communications at U-Communications@wiu.edu to participate.
