WIU to Host Author Melissa Febos for Craft Talk and Reading Sept. 11

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University English Department will host Melissa Febos, acclaimed author of "Girlhood" and "Bodywork," for a craft talk and reading at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11. The event will be held in the Garden Lounge of Malpass Library, with the craft talk beginning at 3 p.m. and the reading and book signing at 5 p.m.

Febos is the author of four books, including the bestselling "Girlhood," which has earned numerous accolades and been translated into seven languages. Her craft book, "Bodywork" (2022), is also a national bestseller. Febos' forthcoming book, "The Dry Season," will be published by Alfred A. Knopf.

Febos has received prestigious awards such as the 2022 Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship and the National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowship. Her work has appeared in publications including "The Paris Review," "The New Yorker," and "The Sun." She is currently a professor in the Nonfiction Writing Program at the University of Iowa.

Books will be available for purchase at the event. All activities are open free to the public. The event is sponsored by the English Department, the Fred Ewing Case and Lola Austin Case Writer-in-Residence Program and the College of Arts and Sciences.
