MACOMB, IL - - An annual fall tradition is making its return to Western Illinois University. The 10th celebration of Lodge & Libations will be held Saturday, September 21 at Horn Field Campus (HFC).

"This is our chance during a beautiful time of year to celebrate all that is Horn Field Campus," HFC Program Director Mindy Pheiffer said. "All are welcome to join us to reconnect with colleagues, explore the development of Horn Field Campus, enjoy the facility, gather with friends and learn about the future growth and use of the site."

This year's event offers a time to celebrate the community within the HFC and an opportunity to raise funds and visibility for the facility. With the successful completion of Phase One of the Lupton Outdoor Education Building Project in 2022, the HFC team is excited to outline Phase Two during this year's Lodge & Libations.

Phase Two of the Lupton Outdoor Education Building Project will focus on addressing two immediate priorities: new restroom facilities near the pavilion and a new outbuilding providing year-round storage and workspace. Lodge & Libations attendees will be among the first to hear about the details of Phase Two and how they can support the important work performed at HFC.

"We are excited to share details about Phase Two and the plans we have to continue celebrating Frank ‘Doc' Lupton's influence, show gratitude for his enthusiasm, friendship, and mentorship, and make Horn a safe and worthy environment to continue his legacy," College of Education and Human Services Director of Development Emily Gillett said.

Lodge & Libations begins at 5 p.m., with a brief program and remarks at 6 p.m. Hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar will be available due thanks to the generosity of our Friends of Horn donors. Online registration is available until Monday, September 16 at bit.ly/4dZxt7d.

"There are so many friends of Horn who are students, alumni and donors from near and far, current and emeriti faculty and staff, and community members who help maintain the facility and program. We look forward to seeing many of these individuals on September 21," Pheiffer said.

Those who cannot attend and still want to contribute to the facility enhancement projects can visit bit.ly/HORN24 or contact Gillett at (309) 298-1690 or by email at e-gillett@wiu.edu.

HFC's 92-acre outdoor learning center fosters community through leadership and group development opportunities that are facilitated through Horn activities, resources, and setting. It is a west-central Illinois hub for small group retreats and also draws groups from the greater Illinois region.
