MACOMB, IL - - Graduation day was one of the best moments at Western Illinois University for alum Vikitha Ram Bommagani. After earning her Master of Science in Applied Statistics and Decision Analytics in 2023, she was able to feel proud of her accomplishments.

"The graduation ceremony was when I was most proud of myself," Bommagani said.

Bommagani took her degree and is working as a data analyst, crediting WIU for sharpening her skills "through a practical way of learning" and helping her transition into adulthood.

Aside from graduation, some of her favorite memories were working as a student manager at Corbin Hall and helping to host events for Diwali and Dandiya Rass.
Bommagani said all students thinking about WIU should "go for it," noting the beautiful campus and city.

"It's the best place you can explore yourself," Bommagani said. "Macomb is a beautiful city. Sherman Hall has my heart."

As we honor 125 years of educational excellence, we invite local WIU students to share their stories and be featured in our series. Contact University Communications at U-Communications@wiu.edu to participate.
