Just Hired: Nicholas Grunewald

Just Hired! Through the experiences of local, regional, national and international students, Western Illinois University has some incredible alumni who are changing the world in the workforce. This series will feature students from all over the world who are hired post-graduation.

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL - - Meet Nicholas Grunewald, a Spring 2024 graduate in Sports Broadcasting, who recently accepted a position at Eyewitness News WTVO and WQRF as a reporter.

Grunewald applied his knowledge from his major after seeing an advertisement on LinkedIn. He noted that he was instantly interested and was given the opportunity for a phone interview.

"I credit WIU for the knowledge gained on how to produce a live show," Grunewald said. "It ultimately got me this position."

Grunewald plans to stay involved with WIU through the Alumni Association.
