MACOMB, IL - -Get ready to wave your rainbow flags and celebrate! Western Illinois University's LGBT*QA Resource Center will host the first-ever Pride Festival this Sunday, April 21 from noon-4 p.m. on the Multicultural Center Lawn.

This year's theme is "Queer Joy" as this will be a joyous celebration of the LGBT*QA community. This event will have delicious, Sandra's Authentic Mexican Food, raffles, LIVE music and many drag performances. There will be student businesses tabling The Honey Pot and Crochet by Nat & Dodomek. Whether you identify as LGBT*QA or simply want to show your support as an ally, this event is open to all the community, faculty, staff and students.

"As the first Pride Festival for the LGBT*QA Resource Center we hope this will be a joyous experience for all the individuals that come," MCC Graduate Assistant, Janae' Patterson said. "This event provides students with a diverse inclusive environment to come to. Pride Festival is a monumental event in the LGBT*QA community in which members come together to celebrate social, self-acceptance and legal rights making this the perfect event for students to come to. As this is the first Pride Festival Parade in the Macomb area in a long time we are trying to make it as fun and inclusive as we can."
