MACOMB, IL - - To kick off Minority Health Month, Western Illinois University will host a Minority Health Walk Monday, April 1. University and community members are invited to join the Minority Health Month Planning Committee and walk, drive or ride to Chandler Park in Macomb, beginning behind Stipes Hall at noon.

Macomb Mayor Mike Inman will give a proclamation at 12:30 p.m. in Chandler Park.

This year's theme, "Be the Source for Better Health," focuses on improving health outcomes for racial and ethnic minority and AI/AN communities by providing them with culturally and linguistically competent healthcare services, information and resources. When patients are provided with culturally and linguistically appropriate information, they are empowered to create healthier outcomes for themselves and their communities.
