Morrison Named January EOM

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University Television (UTV) Chief Broadcasting Engineer Michael Morrison has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for January.
Morrison started at WIU in October 2014. Prior to his current position, he was a broadcast and maintenance engineer at WEEK TV in East Peoria for 15 years; an instrument lab technician for two years at Caterpillar Inc. in the Research and Development Center and a crane inspector for Illinois Crane in Peoria for two years.
"I have had the privilege of working alongside Mike for 10 years in our department, and it is clear to me that he embodies dedication, innovation and service excellence," his nominator said. "This person consistently goes above and beyond their job responsibilities to enhance the technical abilities of our department. His knowledge and technical expertise are very commendable and he is constantly seeking new methods and tools to improve our operations and services. His 's ability to embrace the latest technological advancements and apply them effectively benefits our department."
Morrison is not only nominated for his years of service and dedication to his job, but his understanding of implementing innovative and effective solutions of operation.
"Mr. Morrison has introduced numerous cost-effective solutions and streamlined processes that have significantly improved our department's efficiency and effectiveness. These innovations not only save time and resources but also elevate the overall quality of our services," his nominator continued. "He takes a proactive approach to preventive maintenance, ensuring that our facilities and equipment remain in optimal condition. His commitment to these tasks goes a long way in preventing disruptions and preserving the continuity of our services. He not only serves our department, but extends support to the broader campus. His willingness to collaborate and share expertise has positively impacted various areas of our University. He serves as a valuable resource, willingly lending a helping hand to colleagues and departments in need."
"I want to thank all of my coworkers and friends here at Western for the recognition," Morrison said. " I really appreciate it."
In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.
The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff, and administrators, as well as community members wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition, should contact the Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) at csec-nominations-g@wiu.edu.
