WIU Art Department to Host First Wednesday Event Oct. 4

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Art & Design Department will host a "First Wednesday" event from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4 in Garwood Hall, the Heating Plant Annex and the University Art Gallery.

The faculty and students of the WIU Art Department will join forces to provide interactive and imaginative activities to all visitors. The event is open free to the public, welcoming visitors from both the campus and surrounding areas.

Everyone is encouraged to participate, although some projects may not be suitable for young children. Parents and guardians are encouraged to pay attention to the faculty's guidance. Additionally, all children under the age of 13 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

  • Art Historical Monsters Trivia (with prizes) – Professor Sherry Lindquist, Garwood 10

  • Silkscreening Art Monsters – Professors Susan Czechowski and Jenny Knavel;

  • Bring a shirt. Bring a bag. Bring something fun to print on, Garwood 11

  • Printmaking – Professor Bill Howard, Garwood 12

  • Louis Comfort Tiffany inspired Halloween Stained-Glass project

  • – Associate Professor Ta-Teh Ku, Garwood 24

  • Drawing Monster Masks – Professor Tim Waldrop, Garwood 25

  • Abstract Watercolors – Professor Damon McArthur, Garwood 34

The University Art Gallery will be open late during the event and featuring two exhibitions: "Interpolated" by Michael K. Paxton on the second-floor gallery and The WIU Biennial Art & Design Faculty Exhibition on the first-floor gallery.
