Six WIU Cadets Commission as U.S. Army Second Lieutenants

MACOMB, IL – Six Western Illinois University Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadets were commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army Friday, May 12, during Commencement weekend at the University.

The cadets were sworn in by Lt. Col. C. Carl Oborski, commander of the Leatherneck Battalion. The battalion has commissioned 1,130 second lieutenants into the U.S. Army since it began at Western.

This year's commissioning cadets include:

• Cole Anderson, of Bismarck, IL, received his bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration. He will commission into the Army Reserve as a military police officer.

His gold bars were pinned on by his wife, Lexi; his mother, Tracey; and his father, James.

• Juddie F. Beauchamp, of Clarksville, TN, received his bachelor's degree in Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration. He will commission into the active duty Army as an armor officer.

His gold bars were pinned on by his father, Juddie James Beauchamp.

• Jace M. Cadet, of Monmouth, IL, received his bachelor's degree in Foreign Languages and Cultures. He will commission into the active duty Army as a transportation officer.

His gold bars were pinned on by his wife, Leah, and his mother-in-law, Connie.

• Charles A. Janes, of Park Ridge, IL, received his bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration. He will commission into the Army Reserve as a military police officer.

His gold bars were pinned on by his mother, Vivian; his sister, Grace; and his step-father, Mike.

• Sabrina L. Krog, of Huntley, IL, received her bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration. She will commission into the active duty Army as an infantry officer.

Her gold bars were pinned on by her mother, Robin, and her father, Rodney.

• Schuyler R. Wardlow, of Milan, received his master's degree in Public Health. He will commission into the Army Reserve at the 733rd Support Maintenance Company (SMC), in Canton, IL, as an ordnance executive officer.

His gold bars were pinned on by his grandmother, Pat, and his grandfather, Tom.
