WIU Director of Assessment, Accreditation and Strategic Planning Search

MACOMB, IL – Interviews for the open Western Illinois University position of director of Assessment, Accreditation and Strategic Planning will be held Monday, Jan. 30, Friday, Feb. 3 and Thursday, Feb. 9.

Three candidates will interview, including Kevin R. Majewski, assistant dean of humanities at Union County College in New Jersey (Jan. 30); Bryan DePoy, professor of music and humanities at Lake Erie College in Ohio (Feb. 3) and James Mascenik, assessment specialist at Strayer University in Virginia (Feb 9).

Majewski has been the assistant dean of humanities at Union County College since 2021. Previously, he was the senior analyst of institutional research at Union College from 2017-21; assistant to the program director in Higher Education Programs at Seaton Hall University in New Jersey from 2014-17; employment specialist in supported employment at CPC Behavioral Healthcare in New Jersey, from 2009-10 and 2016-17; and a vocational specialist for the Program for Assertive Community Treatment from 2013-15. He has also been an adjunct professor and a teaching assistant at Seaton Hall University from 2016-21; an adjunct professor at Monmouth University in New Jersey from 2015-18; and an English teacher at the American Language School in Japan from 2010-12.

Majewski received his bachelor's degree in psychology from Montana State University in Billings; his master's degree in psychological counseling from Monmouth University and his doctoral degree in higher education leadership, management and policy from Seaton Hall University.

DePoy has been a professor of music and humanities at Lake Erie College since 2022. Previously, he was provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Lake Erie College from 2021-22; senior vice president for academic affairs and institutional effectiveness from 2018-21; vice president for academic affairs and chief academic officer (with adjoining tenured appointment as full professor) from 2015-18; dean of the College of Creative Arts and Communication at Youngtown State University (with adjoining tenured appointment as full professor in the Dana School of Music) from 2009-15; interim dean of graduate studies and associate provost for research and dean of creative arts and communication in 2013; interim dean for the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Southeastern Louisiana University from 2008-09; and assistant dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Southeastern Louisiana University from 2006-08.

DePoy received his bachelor's degree in music from the Indiana University School of Music; his master's degree in music from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque; his doctoral degree in music from Florida State University, Tallahassee; and a higher education assessment specialist graduate certificate from James Madison University in Virginia.

Mascenik has been the assessment specialist for Strayer University since 2019. Previously, he was director of institutional effectiveness at Waldorf University in Iowa from 2018-19; director of academic assessment for the University of Western States in Oregon from 2015-18; director of assessment, evaluation and analysis for Green River College in Washington from 2014-15; director of institutional assessment for Concordia University from 2012-14; assessment coordinator for Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina from 2009-12; research analyst for the Idaho State Board of Education from 2007-09; and director of institutional research for Walden University in Minnesota from 2004-07.

Mascenik received his bachelor's degree in earth science from Kean University; his master's degree in psychology from Walden University and his doctoral degree in educational research, measurement and evaluation from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro; and a data analytics professional certificate from Google/Coursera.
