MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University's Casa Latina Cultural Center will host its 7th annual Calle Murray festival from noon-4 p.m. Saturday, April 23 in front of the Multicultural Center. For the safety of all of our attendees, face coverings and social distancing guidelines will remain in effect.

Calle Murray is an annual block party hosted by Casa Latina to celebrate the Latinx and Indigenous cultures. This event brings together the WIU and Macomb in an open and engaging environment, while learning about the rich history and culture of the diverse set of Latinx countries represented by students, staff and faculty at WIU.

"This year's theme highlights South American and Caribbean Latinx identities. We will be hosting various activities, including dominos, paint your own maracas, flag bracelet making and more," said Casa Latina Cultural Center Graduate Assistant Meyani Montano, co-chair of the Calle Murray Planning Committee.

The event will feature WIU Alumnus DJ Raul "RECKLESS" Villalobos IV providing music; student performances by Tradición Latin Dance Team, Gamma Phi Omega, Sigma Lambda Gamma, Sigma Lambda Beta, Alpha Psi Lambda, and a Unity Stroll by the United Greek Council; food by Cathy's Café, Los Charros and Sodexo. Parking is available in the University Union Lot, Q-Lot and N-Lot

The event is sponsored by AMPLIFY, Alpha Psi Lambda, Calle Murray Planning Committee, Cathy's Café, CSAF, DJ Reckless, Gamma Phi Omega, Jose L. Hernandez Jr., KZKAIT, Kim Swift, Lambda Theta Phi, Latin American Student Organization, Los Charros, Montano Family, Rotaract, Sigma Lambda Beta, Sigma Lambda Gamma, Sodexo, Tim Teslicka and the Tradición Latin Dance Team.
