MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – The holiday season is underway! Join Western Illinois University as we kick off the season and inspire Leathernecks everywhere to come together in generosity as we participate in #GivingTuesday (Nov. 30).

#GivingTuesday is a 24-hour global campaign to encourage personal philanthropy and showcase the impact of collective giving.

"On #GivingTuesday 2021, we're excited to unveil 'WIU Fund It,' the official crowdfunding platform for Western Illinois University," said WIU Director of Annual Giving Tim Hallinan.

According to Hallinan, WIU Fund It is a platform to help the Leatherneck community raise money so their ideas and passions can become an impactful reality. The WIU platform works like GoFundMe or Kickstarter, with one crucial difference: all projects are conceived by Western students, alumni, faculty, and staff.

"Projects focus on enhancing the student experience, campus improvements, scholarships and other unique campus initiatives," he added. "WIU Fund It allows donors to connect directly to the students, alumni, faculty and staff behind these extraordinary ideas, and will be a year-round effort at Western."

Visit WIU Fund It at bit.ly/WIUFundIt to view and support a current project, or make a #GivingTuesday gift to the scholarship or any area of Western. For information on creating a future project on WIU Fund It, email crowdfunding@wiu.edu, or apply on the site.

More projects are being added to WIU Fund It ahead of #GivingTuesday and will run until Dec. 31, 2021. Gifts may be made via Venmo, PayPal, Apple Pay, and with most major credit and debit cards.
