MACOMB, IL – Results from the recent student survey regarding new University Union Food Court options are in … and the survey says ….

Qdoba!

Of the over 1,470 surveys received, Qdoba received an overwhelming response (73.9 percent) to replace Burger King in the Union Food Court. The survey indicated the top three food platforms requested were Mexican cuisine, a chicken-based restaurant and Italian cuisine. Chick-fil-A, which was a top-requested restaurant requested by students when surveyed in 2018, opened in January 2019.

According to Joe Roselieb, executive director of risk management and auxiliary services, another change to the food court line-up beginning Fall 2021 is the addition of a "We Proudly Serve Starbucks" platform to replace Einstein's Brothers Bagels. The "We Proudly Serve" concept will feature 90 percent of the Starbucks drink menu, Roselieb explained. Sodexo, which is WIU's contracted food service organization, will fund the renovations. Sodexo will serve as the owner of the franchises and operate the establishments.

"We are extremely excited to add these new food service platforms in our University Union," Roselieb said. "WIU is committed to getting our students' feedback to ensure we're adding services that our students want. We could not accomplish this without the help of our food service partners, Sodexo Campus Services. We appreciate everything they are doing to guide us through the process."
