MACOMB, IL - High school senior Levi Buckrop, of Taylor Ridge, IL, has been awarded a Western Illinois University President's Scholarship, in conjunction with the Western Commitment Scholarship. Together, these scholarships cover four years of tuition, fees, a double residence hall room and standard board for eight semesters.

"I selected Western because I want to be a conservation police officer and Western's law enforcement program is highly regarded in this field. The deciding factors were WIU's reputation within the law enforcement field and proximity to home," said Buckrop.

At Western, Buckrop plans to major in law enforcement and justice administration, and get involved in the Outdoorsman's Club and paintball team. He will also be a member of the Centennial Honors College.

In high school, Buckrop serves as president of both the National Honor Society and the Student Council. He is also a four-year member of both the Crime Prevention Unit and the basketball team.

After graduating from WIU, Buckrop plans to pursue a career as an Illinois State Conservation police officer.

To qualify for the WIU President's Scholarship, students must first be awarded WIU's Commitment Scholarship. The scholarship decision is also weighted by the proof of volunteer and community service.
