MACOMB, IL - High school senior Raven Holman, of Chicago, IL, has been awarded a Western Illinois University President's Scholarship, in conjunction with the Western Commitment Scholarship. Together, these scholarships cover four years of tuition, fees, a double residence hall room and standard board for eight semesters.

"I selected Western because it not only has my major, but because it is also very cost efficient for my family. Western is also very small and close to home." said Holman.

At Western, Holman plans to major in biochemistry and explore WIU's Black Student Association and softball team.

In high school, Holman is involved in stagecraft, softball, Black Student Union, University of Chicago Collegiate Scholars Program, Lindblom Teacher Assistant Program, Lindblom Advisory Mentor Program and Chicago Scholars.

After graduating from WIU, Holman plans to enroll in medical school.

To qualify for the WIU President's Scholarship, students must first be awarded WIU's Commitment Scholarship. The scholarship decision is also weighted by the proof of volunteer and community service.
