MACOMB, IL — Cindy Baxter, Western Illinois University Procurement Officer Specialist for the WIU Purchasing Office, has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for March.

Baxter came to WIU in December 2006 as an office support specialist in marketing and finance, and was promoted to the Purchasing Office as a purchasing officer in September 2007. Since July 2012, she has been in her current position of Procurement Officer Specialist.

According to Baxter's nominators, she "works so hard to make sure the purchasing office runs smoothly."

"She is dedicated to helping others process paperwork and have it completed and finished in a timely manner," said her nominator. "She truly understands all the rules and regulations that must be followed and always assists and know the answers when asked. She always assists with a pleasant attitude toward everyone she comes in contact with. She is a pleasure to work with."

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Christine Staley at CD-Staley@wiu.edu.
