'The Sessions' Comes to WIU April 9

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) and the Music Business Association (MBA) will host "The Sessions," a series of workshops by music industry experts, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, April 9 in the COFAC Recital Hall.
 
The event will include an interactive presentation for those interested in careers in contract negotiations, entertainment law, marketing, touring, self-promotion and artist relations, as well as artist interviews. 
 
Those scheduled to attend include:
 
• Dom Famularo, a global drumming ambassador
 
• Carlos Guzman, tour manager for Barry Gibb
 
• Christine Ohlman, "The Beehive Queen," a vocalist, songwriter and musicologist for Saturday Night Live
 
• Paul Quin, an entertainment attorney and music business consultant
 
• David Ellefson, a bassist for "Megadeth" and an author
 
The event will also include panel discussions and a jam session, so participants are encouraged to bring musical instruments. A drum set will be provided. The panel is from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., and the open jam session from 1:30-3 p.m.
 
The event is open free to the public, though registering is helpful for planning purposes.
